WHAT DO YOU DO AND WHY DO YOU DO IT?
I do as much as possible all of the time. I am an artist, and I feel most passionately about art that is live, engaged and performance based. I DJ under the name KATE BUTCH, I'm an events manager/promoter, a #c0d3r, and quietly drawing, painting, and making music in my stu thinking about disgusting sculptural work that no one will ever let me put in their gallery. I do it because I simply have no other option. I try to sustain my regular job, but there's this doom that gnaws at my guts if I'm not shooting for the stars and working backwards.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT CLOTHES?
I'm always surprised about how great I feel when I get styled by someone or buy something really nice for myself. It's the 'looking the part' thing. When I first moved here I was swathed in 2-3 floor length coats attempting to look like a cold gust of wind but actually just looking like a pile of laundry. In the words of Rupaul Charles, "wear a suit". I can walk around in my carefully selected thrifted clothing masking the fact that I have $2 to my name. Clothing is a constant performance. Life's a party and the world is your stage.
TELL US ABOUT THIRD PARTY:
Third Party is the brainchild of myself, Calum Gordon and Zo Claasen. Our first gig together as a trio was almost immediately out of the first lockdown in 2020, and we've had many since. Third Party is simultaneously a shitpost and commitment to a bit, but also a very sincere attempt to promote the talent in Poneke that pushes our music forward. The ethos is highly DIY and comes from a legacy of people looking past the challenges of sustaining nightlife in Poneke and creating exactly what we want to see (RE: Mesh, ClubHouse, Freaks). It's allowed us to cut our teeth with art's place within nightlife and also just have a shitload of fun. I've had several of the best days of my life doing 3P and I'm very excited for the transformation we have coming.
YOU’RE ON “COME DINE WITH ME” WHO DO YOU INVITE AND WHAT DO YOU COOK FOR THEM?
Cate Blanchett. I make us a meat centrepiece that is the shape of a large moth. I'm thinking 50cm by 90cm. The whole thing is cast in gelatin and it is ordained with charcuterie. There will be no brie and no camembert. I then discover that the woman of my dreams is a vegetarian. I make my friend Daniels' mapo tofu recipe, it goes cold. We sit and admire the giant meaty carpet muncher.
WHAT'S YOUR WORST HABIT?
I can be a bit intense and I also say sorry a lot. Both are irritating.

I might b a zoomer but i don't tik tok - I sh1tpost reels on my finsta tho. Currently enjoying manipulating my algorithm to think i'm a particular type of guy, or speak a particular language. Can take me some strange places.
WHEN YOU WERE YOUNG DID YOU GET HASSLED AT SCHOOL?
I was a scary and awkward little freak high on paint fumes, so no. I scared the hoes. (kidding) yeah plenty but that's not my narrative.
WHAT KEEPS YOU AWAKE AT NIGHT?
Mediocrity.
DO YOU HAVE A RECURRING DREAM OR NIGHTMARE?
There's this dilapidated stone ruin that I find myself in a lot. I'm occasionally able to lucid dream and explore, I found that there's a beach next to it with a lot of toetoe and tussock. The colour is very washed out and if I'm not able to consciously move I'm just walking up endless stairs and it just gets darker. There's never anything living there it's just empty pale ruins.
FAVE PODCAST: Strong tie between NYMPHOWARS and Nymphette Alumni. #nymphcore... But also Open Source Security Podcast. Those are my top three. UwU
